More Information

Rumours of weird and wonderful monsters and fairy creatures have always haunted the island’s history. Their legends are rich with comedy and tragedy, horror and high-romance. Werewolves, Mermaids, Changelings and Dragons are woven into our web of tales, but there are also stranger monsters, unique to the Channel Islands: La Vioge, La Cocangne, Le Belengi and L’Emanue.

Get a head-start on halloween with these deliciously dark monsters, drawn from the bed-time stories and whispered warnings of our ancestors.

Erren Michaels is also the author of the books Jersey Legends and Jersey Ghost Stories, both published by The History Press. She was part of the inaugural Festival of Words and is proud to be returning in 2024.
