The programme is Shostakovich's Festival Overture, Dvorak's Cello Concerto and Rachmaninov's Symphony No.1 in D Minor. The Orchestra will be led by Martin Smith under the baton of guest conductor, Thomas Payne, and will feature Kwesi Edman as guest cello soloist. Kwesi is an old friend of the JSO having been the principal cello before forging a career as a solo player.
The Cello Concerto will be dedicated to the memory of the late Graham Boxall. Graham was President of the JSO for a number of years and also a long serving member of the cello ranks.
