Val de la Mare Arboretum
Once known as "The Forgotten Forest", Val de la Mare Arboretum is a hidden gem, full of unusual trees and plants from all around the world. Thanks to Jersey's temperate climate, it is able to support tree life and other exotic fauna from global locations as widely dispersed as Australasia, East Asia, the Mediterranean and North America.

More Information
The arboretum offers a choice of relatively short walks, starting from the top car park. Once you've passed through the arboretum, you'll find a further choice of beautiful reservoir walks of varying lengths and difficulties waiting for you.
Like much of Jersey, Val de la Mare is rich in birdlife, with regular visitors including egrets, herons, moorhens and owls. You can often see birds of prey such as buzzards and harriers circling above too. In addition to the birdlife, there's no shortage of other fauna such as bees, frogs, hedgehogs, lizards and of course Jersey's trademark red squirrels.
We are open all year round.

Voluntourism with Jersey Trees for Life
Get involved! Join Jersey Trees for Life for an open volunteering session of tree care at Val de la Mare on the first Friday of every month. If you're interested in tree care, or just fancy getting out into the fresh air for a few hours' gentle exercise on an autumn or winter morning, we'd love you to join us.
